Chez Albert, the must by the Port des Pêcheurs

Located on the dock of the Port des Pêcheurs (“Fisherman's port”), Chez Albert highlights Basque gastronomy using fish bought straight from the market in Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

Ocean waves crash a few steps away from the kitchen at Chez Albert, where the staff pays tribute to the many products arising from the "Big Blue", according to Basque traditional skills. Plunged in the shade, the terrace faces the vastness of the sea, just like the deck of a ship reading to raise anchor. You too will dreamily gaze at the horizon, comfortably set on the port of the Basque city, only to lose the view in favour of flavourful dishes.

The restaurant has established itself as a reference and only serves wild catches for the freshest quality, sourced from local fishing. Seafood comes in various forms here, from classic platters (Gillardeau oysters, crab, prawns…) to grilled sardines from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, chipirones in cuttlefish ink sauce, paella and the must-try grilled lobster.

Proud of its local products, Chez Albert will take you on a trip around Basque traditions, complete from furniture to varied food specialities, with simplicity always at heart.
